This nonfiction reading unit (level L) focuses on how Rosa Parks helped end unfair laws. Students learn about Rosa Parks wanting to be treated fairly. They will understand how her experience started a movement that helped improve equality. This unit contains teacher support pages, complex text for teachers to read aloud to students, and a reading selection with illustrations for students to read. It also includes a picture dictionary with content vocabulary, two reading comprehension activities supporting close reading, two writing activities that include text-based writing, and an activity to apply content vocabulary.
