This is unit will make it easy to differentiate sight word instruction in your classroom.
We all know that children learn sight words at different paces. I introduce a few words a week and add them to my word wall ,but I allow my students to move through sight words at their own pace.
I have created this to be stored in a folder or a binder. I choose to put all the lists in the folder at one time.
When students are ready to “pass” a list I give them the assessment. If students are able to read the words in a timely manner (about 2-3 seconds per word) they are able to move to the next list.
I use the cover page to track their progress. Students will color the popcorn yellow when they pass a list. We call this buttering the popcorn. They love it!
Every now and then we will celebrate our progress with a popcorn party!
