This is a leveled reading of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Black Cat." This text has been adapted in order to make the original story accessible to students (SPED or ESOL) needing accommodation and additional support. The reading level has been reduced to a 6th/7th grade level, as measured by the following formulas: Flesh-Kinkaid Grade Level; Coleman-Liau Index, SMOG Index, and Linsear Wright Formula.

This reading can be used alone, in conjunction with the audio resource, or as part of the complete lit-based lesson plan.
