Each level of text has crucial characteristics that are important to consider when planning which texts your students will read. I used this guide to help me when considering which texts to pull for students in my guided reading groups.

This guide covers Fountas and Pinnell Levels A through M (most students grades K-2).

I recommend printing on cardstock, cutting apart the cards, punching a hole in the tops, and putting them together on a book ring. Then keep the ring handy with your other reference materials to use when planning.
