Ready to have students start taking charge of their learning? Teach them to self assess!
I have these posters displayed in my room and constantly use them as a nonverbal cue to have students display their level of understanding to me. This quick and easy assessment allows me to gage and adjust my lesson to match my students current needs. These posters use both words and visual cues to display levels to students.
I use the small worksheet/ rubrics to have students circle their level of understanding on certain assignments before they are turned in. I leave a stack of these slips next to my turn in bin with a stapler. This helps students judge their level of understanding on concepts and quickly provides the teacher with more information about their current understanding.
