Teaching Lewis structures is as easy as 1, 2, 3. This 3 step approach can be used for the first introduction of structures in Biology or in AP Chemistry. It covers single, double, and triple bonding in molecules but could also be adapted to include polyatomic ions. The first page is the "notes" going over the steps with a few guided problems for modeling. Resonance is also covered. The second page includes a large number of practice problems with a variety of different types of bonds. Delete the double and triple bonds for lower level courses as needed.
