This bundle contains two resources sold at a discounted price:
Lewis and Clark, Their Lives and Times - designed as an informational reading and writing unit for upper elementary students. It can be equally utilized in an ELA class or a Social Studies class. Each of the 4 texts can be used alone (but in sequence): they could be assigned as the teacher wishes: in class over 1-4 days, as homework, as independent projects, etc. Each text has a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) as well as a page of vocabulary and grammar work. Each of the four passages also has a short creative writing assignment.
The four passages are:
Part 1: Thomas Jefferson’s Dream;
Part 2: The Corps of Discovery;
Part 3: Wintering at Fort Mandan; and
Part 4: Reaching the Pacific Ocean.
The second resource is:
Sacagawea, Her Life and Times: similar in design and scope and Lewis and Clark, but with fewer reading passages.
The two texts are chronological; Part 1 is titled “Who was Sacagawea?” and Part 2 “Sacagawea and the Corps of Discovery”.
Each text has a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) as well as a page of vocabulary and language use work and a short creative writing assignment. There is a one-page cloze activity using the twelve vocabulary words from Parts 1 and 2 (introduced in the work sheet for each part) and a “words within words” puzzle in which students find words within the name “Corps of Discovery”. The latter includes a couple of student challenges. The puzzle complements both resources.
All of the student work pages and the puzzle have answer keys (for both resources)..
