Are you looking for a highly engaging way to teach the Liberty Bell as a National Symbol? With my guess, grab, and grasp, you can't miss!
In the zip file, I have included a whole group Powerpoint that leads students through the guess, grab, and grasp progress. Additionally, I have included interactive notebook pages that go great with the Powerpoint. See the preview file for an example.
What is GUESS, GRAB, and GRASP?
The Powerpoint starts with the student objective.
*GUESS - The students will be asked to activate their background knowledge by answering some true or false questions on the Liberty Bell. This works great as a pretest. The slides can be done alone or you can print the guess, grab, grab sheet from the notebook pages.
*GRAB - Now, it's time for the students to GRAB some information on the Liberty Bell. This is the concept development part of the lesson. The slides are full of information and most include photographs.
*GRASP – At the end of the lesson, it is time to see if the students have GRASPED the information in the presentation. The same 5 questions that were given at the beginning of the presentation will be revisited. This works great as a posttest. Again, the slides can be done alone or you can use the guess, grab, grab sheet from the notebook pages.
Additional notebook pages included: All About the Liberty Bell Notetaking Sheet (It follows the presentation. Our class pretends it’s a game and students complete to see if they can fill in the blanks.) and All About the Liberty Bell Questions and Learning Page.
