This is a PDF document that includes two different backgrounds. In this product you will find a great leveling system that I use for my classroom library. The levels are based on Fountas and Pinnell as well as the Basal levels. You have a choice between two different forms.
How I made this work:
I bought the colored sticker circles found at Staples that can be found in any store with office supplies. I then wrote the number on the circle to match the level and stuck it on the top right hand corner of all my books. WHEW a lot of work but SO worth it!
I use the circles with levels to put in their reading logs for parents. I also give this leveling sheet to parents at our parent meetings to help them find books on their child's level and be able to track their child's progress by seeing where their books land that I send home. Most public libraries will find Fountas and Pinnell leveled texts for the kids if they are asked to help.
I wanted to do a system for the students where they wouldn't feel so different from others and having a color and number rather than an alphabet code seems a little less daunting to me. The alphabet code was obvious that my F readers were way behind my M readers. Anyways, I hope that you enjoy it and are able to use it to help you organize your classroom library as well!!
