I created these to support our science vocabulary for animal life cycles while practicing much needed ELA skills. Each center activity can stand alone as a small group or whole group activity as well. We study frogs, mealworms, chicks/ducks, and butterflies. Has 60 pages of student activities and student instructions!

Froggy Hops-students will match verbs to parts of an animal life cycle. I went from basic verb to more sophisticated verbs. You will need to cut apart verb cards and trim the animal frames, too. Copy recording sheet. meets standards L.K.1b, L.1.4a, L.1.5d, L.2.5b

Animal Idioms-students will match idioms based on animals {worms, butterflies, frogs, and chickens} to their meaning. Idioms are in sentences so students can use context clues for help. You will need to cut out idiom cards and meanings. Copy recording sheet. meets standards L.1.5c, L.1.4a, L.2.5a, L.2.4a, L.4.5b

Under the Microscope-Break out the little hand lenses! I used size 5 font to hide adjectives in one picture and irregular plurals in another. You can use both or choose the skills you need. You will need the provide and lens/magnifying glass {I used little bug catching cases from the Dollar Spot}. All you need to do is copy the recoding sheet. meets standards L.1.1f, L.2.1b

Clucky Contractions-students will sort contractions by NOT, HAD, HAVE, or WILL types. You will need to cut out contraction cards and header cards. meets standards L.2.2c

Life Cycle Sentences-After reading each sentence, students will decide if the highlighted verb is past, present, or future tense. Meets standards L.2.1d, L.1.1e

Cycle of Synonyms-students will choose a new improved synonym to replace the boring word on the card. L.1.1f, L.1.5c, L.2.1e
