Description

Students will love these life cycle sorting cards. These will be great for science centers or fast finishers. Just print life cycle cards and task cards on card stock and use over and over again. Easy to use and low prep life cycle sorting cards will be a hit with your students.

This will support the NGSS standard for third grade on life cycles. 

NGSS 3-LS1-1 Develop models to describe that organisms have unique and diverse life cycles but all have in common birth, growth, reproduction, and death.

This resource is also aligned with the science standards for Utah third grade.

SCI.4.10.C Organisms and environments. The student knows that organisms undergo similar life processes and have structures and behaviors that help them survive within their environment. The student is expected to: explore, illustrate, and compare life cycles in living organisms such as beetles, crickets, radishes, or lima beans.

Utah SEEd 3.2.1 Develop models to describe patterns of change that organisms go through during their life cycles. Emphasize that organisms have unique and diverse life cycles, but all have in common birth, growth, reproduction, and death.

This resource includes 13 sets of life cycle cards.

This resource includes 15 task cards.

Organisms include:

Chicken

Pumpkin

Sunflower

Honey Bee

Grass snake

Oak Tree

Frog

Lima Bean

Woodpecker

Apple

Ladybug

Differentiation is possible. 

Some of the sets are simple with just a few cards to sort.  Catshark. Ladybug and grass snake are simple with just three or four cards.

Some sets are more challenging. Honey bees for example, has three possible adults: Queen, Drone, and Worker Bee.  They may need to set aside cards they won’t use. Oak tree has seasonal order as well as lifecycle. Chicken life cycle shows the embryology within the egg.

Arrows can be used with any set.

Great for centers or fast finishers.

Answer keys or possible answers included.

Many of these cards are available as part of whole units that include informational text and lessons and other activities.
