This pack focuses on three standards that match Ohio's New Learning Standards for third grade science.
1.Offspring resemble their parents and each other.
2.Individuals of the same kind differ in their traits and sometimes the differences give individuals an advantage in surviving and reproducing.
3.Plants and animals have life cycles that are part of their adaptations for survival in their natural environment.
This pack includes centers that match the standards above. The six living things included are chickens, frogs, plants, pumpkins, ladybugs, and butterflies.
*The first center activity students will read a passage about each type of plant or animals life cycle. They will answer the questions and put the life cycle in order. Students will write down what they observe about the life cycle.
*The second activity students will read a passage about different animals or plants of the same species and write their traits. They will then compare the offspring to its parents.
*The third activity is a memory game where students can match the life cycle term to its picture.
*The fourth activity students will observe an animal on a web cam and write their observations of that animal each day.
Answer keys are included.
