In this engaging, hands-on activity, students are guided through the creation of the life cycle with cards that include images and descriptions of each step, as well as arrows showing the processes happening between steps. They do this for insects (using complete and incomplete metamorphosis), frogs, and plants. Once they have built the life cycle and are familiar with the process, students will use the included task cards to help them analyze the diagram they have created and answer higher-level questions about each life cycle.
Big idea: All living things go through similar stages in their life cycle. It is important for students to understand these similarities as well as the differences between life cycles of different types of organisms.
