Included in this set are five activities designed to meet the NGSS third grade standard for life cycles and genetics:
-Develop models to describe that organisms have unique and diverse life cycles but all have in common birth, growth, reproduction, and death.
-Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence that plants and animals have traits inherited from parents and that variation of these traits exists in a group of similar organisms.
The labs and activities included are as follows:
-Not All Plants Are The Same
-Moss Art (Art Connection)
-Life Cycle Brochures (Writing Connection)
-Genetic Mix and Match
-Monster Moms and Dads
All of the labs are hands-on and third grade friendly. The labs require some materials, but most of them are common classroom objects. You will need plastic Easter eggs for one of the labs. The labs can be completed in groups, individually, in pairs, or as a whole group depending on your specific classroom needs. Each lab includes the materials needed, directions, and reflection questions. Some labs also have activity sheets where needed.
