LS4: Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity
3-LS3-2 Use evidence to support the explanation that traits can be influenced by the environment.
3-LS4-3 Construct an argument with evidence that in a particular habitat some organisms can survive well, some survive less well, and some cannot survive at all.
This has to be, by far, the most confusing topic I've researched for a set of anchor charts/posters.
This is currently a set of 14 posters/handouts dealing with the Life Science topic: Biomes. Specifically, Unity & Diversity. Now, depending on which camp you're subscribing to (lumpers or splitters), biomes will be classified into as little as 5 to as many as 40 distinct categories. Depending on the source, statistics will differ. This is probably due to the fact of the age of the information as it pertains to the changing nature of the planet we live on. I've tried my best to distill this offering into a median representation of all the information I've curated. No doubt, as I continue my research I will need to update the information I find as the terms "biome" and "ecosystem" are often interchangeable with one another, adding to the confusion.
