A total of 42 Job Applications (14 different jobs – 3 differentiated versions for each job!) Students can complete these applications on the computer!!!
Students choose a cafeteria and classroom job they would like for 1 month (by keeping the job for 1 month, they are more likely to increase their independence with performing the job tasks). They fill out the corresponding job applications for the positions of interest (Students are able to practice typing in their personal information for a functional and meaningful purpose). I use a stamp that says, “Approved,” to make it more realistic, when they are selected for the jobs. You can even interview them for the jobs! At the end of their daily job, students tell an adult they are finished with their work. Their work is then checked for accuracy. Students earn a “salary” as an incentive to performing the jobs (I use the realistic play money and laminate it for durability). At the end of the month, students use their money to make purchases from the classroom store. I have prizes of various prices and some students choose to save their money for a more expensive item (a great savings lesson).
