Several of my special education students in the high school participate in adult transition programs, and are working on developing problem solving and social skills to use in their future community, work, and home environments. I developed this power point to target some of the tasks and/or situations they may encounter which relate to transportation (bus systems, safety, etc.), home and personal care skills, work environments, and community (library, restaurants, social skills and etiquette, etc.).
For my own use, I have printed the slides out (4 per page) and use them in a modified "Wheel of Fortune" game. The students can play individually or in teams, and they get to choose a card, spin the spinner (I printed a template off the internet), and answer the question. The person or team with the most points at the end is the winner!
I have attempted to include a variety of "difficulty" levels within each category since the students I see have a wide range of skill levels. I would like to continue adding to and tweaking my presentation though, and would love to receive your questions, feedback, and advice!
Thank you all for your interest, and best of luck with your students!
