Writing a résumé is an important life skill that everyone should be educated about. This is a résumé writing kit to help young individuals develop their first résumé. It is predominantly designed for 1st time résumé writers but it has a lot of great information that can help anybody looking to buff up their résumé. The kit basically explains the dynamics, purpose, and parts of a common résumé and gives students the opportunity to fill in various sections that are commonly found in résumés. It guides students through numerous sections of a résumé and gives many tips and recommendations along the way.
The kit covers many different topics that are common in résumés and allows students to practice writing about their own experiences and skills for each section. Students will first learn about each section (example: education, contact information, volunteering, etc.), then practice writing relevant sections about their life, while also reading about some tips and recommendations to maximize their potential.
Students can print this activity and complete each section by hand or complete each section electronically by typing in the blank spaces. This purchase includes the original Word document so students can electronically fill in the blank sections, and also a PDF version so students can print the kit out and complete the sections by hand.
Please note: This is NOT a résumé template for students to complete. At the end of completing this kit, students will then have more than enough knowledge to then create their own résumé on their own. This kit does have a specific section that explains the benefits of creating your own résumé vs. using a template, but no actual template is included in this purchase.
Here are the following topics that this kit covers:
Understanding what a résumé is and its purpose, contact information, objective/personal profile, education, skills/knowledge/abilities, volunteer experience, languages, certificates/diplomas/training, work/job experience, extracurricular activities, awards/honors, pros and cons of using a template vs creating your own résumé, and a section entitled other additional information. All of the topics here have a section that includes some tips and recommendations.
I hope this kit gives your students all of the knowledge that they will need to develop a solid résumé that emphasizes all of their great skills and experiences. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask and I would gladly help you. Thank you for reading this and checking out this kit.
