I am a 9th grade World History teacher- but I spend a considerable amount of time teaching my students how to write a DBQ- Document Based Question as a way to support their ideas and prepare them for AP classes.
The DBQ required students to: Describe what social and economic life was like in the Middle Ages. (Think: What one word would best describe what life was like during this time period?) Consider how manors were organized, quality of the relationships between lords and their vassals, and how life was like for the different classes.
This is a DBQ that I sell separately as just the DBQ itself, but in this product listing I am selling the entire lesson plan, and that includes:
1. Powerpoint: A 13-slide powerpoint that has all the directions step-by-step for the teacher and student to follow. It also includes a sample argumentative essay at the end of the Powerpoint for the teacher to use as a sample of what to do.
2. Feudalism DBQ- a four page packet that has six different types of primary and secondary sources; three visuals and three excerpts. Next to each source as some student analysis questions for them to make better sense of the readings.
3. Evidence Interpretation sheet: A worksheet for students to list their evidences and reasonings.
4. Evidence Interpretation sheet with answers: a sample answer key for the above document
