This lab involves students observing drops of pond water (that they collect) to see what forms of life they can find it. Mainly they will find protists, but my students have found worms and other organisms. It is a very simple lab, but I have found that most students enjoyed trying to find organisms and often would spend two class periods searching. Included with the lab sheet are some brief teacher notes. It is important that students have had sufficient practice using a microscope before doing this lab. It could be used either at the beginning or end of a unit on Protists.
