If you are looking for a specific final essay assignment or final test and did not wish to buy my whole unit, then you have come to the right place!
This product includes a final essay assignment, laying out five different types of essay options for your students to choose from, all with a compare/contrast component. (Most of those options require that "Children of the Mountains," a documentary by Diane Sawyer, be watched prior to writing). A rubric is included to guide your grading.
**Each final essay option incorporates the analysis of the media; however, it is not necessary that you assign that component of the essay if you choose not to teach media literacy alongside your "Life in the Iron Mills" unit.**
Also included is a comprehensive final test that asks students to work their way up Bloom's Taxonomy until they are creating their own opinions and short essays. An answer key for all non-opinion-based questions is included.
**If you decide to teach "Life in the Iron Mills" with a focus on literacy, this final test allows that to be an option. However, it is NOT necessary to teach media literacy in order to give this test.**
