In this highly-engaging activity, students are introduced to life in the trenches during World War One. Students are first guided through an engaging PowerPoint presentation that introduces the start of World War I, why it begins, the role of the United States, and what fighting was like. Students will also watch TWO of the included video clips that show the hardships and conditions of the trenches. Then, students will examine a handout with several quotes about living in the trenches. Lastly, students will write a letter home from the perspective of a soldier in the trenches, documenting their experiences.
Very engaging and guaranteed to pique your students interest!
