Life of Pi Closing Project/Assignment - Group Essay Writing and Infographic
-This is a final project to be used at the conclusion of a reading of Life of Pi. It requires students, in groups, to write an essay and create an infographic in response to an essential, thematic question. The questions I included ask students to consider which of Pi's stories is true, how the book is a spiritual journey for Pi, how the book represents the archetypal quest, and more. I have included project directions, essential questions, the assignment itself, and a simple rubric to use for grading.
The essay students write is one that should be organized and in MLA format. The infographic is a stylized, visual representation of information. To see some examples, click here
. I have linked to free infographic creation websites on the assignment itself.
This product is student tested, and my English II students have consistently enjoyed this project. You can plan on this taking students several days, at least, to complete; this is an ideal assignment for high school students.
