Turn your classroom into a Renaissance art studio! This hands-on project is the perfect activity to complement your study of Renaissance art, artists, social structure, customs, and/or clothing.
Students will be fascinated by the unique clothing and fashions of the time period while researching, painting, and writing about a Renaissance person. The result will be a colorful gallery of life-size Renaissance portraits to proudly display in your school hallway. This works well as a display for an open house or school-wide art show!
This project takes approximately 2-3 weeks to complete, depending on the abilities of your students and length of your period. Teachers should also plan at least one month in advance to schedule art room use, gather supplies, and order resources if needed.
*Although this product is designed specifically for the Renaissance time period, it can be easily adapted to most other time periods. Life-size portraits of Medieval costumes or Early American Colonial clothing would be just as stunning! Let your imagination soar!
