Older students in life skills programs benefit from real world focussed content that is age appropriate and designed to meet their developing literacy and language skills. As students become more independent, they begin to explore the wider community and discover how to travel on their own, make decisions, deal with problems and manage unexpected situations.
This life skills reading and language pack contains reading, writing, language and life skills resources that can be used in a variety of ways by special education and mainstream teachers as well as speech pathologists.
The life skills reading and language pack includes:
•7 easy reading short stories suitable for high school and adult readers
•7 printable comprehension pages designed to encourage students to read carefully and think, write and draw about the story
•28 photo prompts (4 print to ¼ A4 and 4 minis with caption for each story) which encourage discussion, reinforcement of key ideas in the story and use of language skills
•A set of 56 printable cards for matching, sorting, pairing and language games - print two copies and play memory, mix and match or 'I have, who has?' using the photo cards and printable word prompts
