Learn about the engineering design process and solar energy with this Engineering Design Challenge- Solar Ovens.

In this activity students will work through the engineering design process, use teamwork, communication, creative thinking and problem solving skills while learning about solar energy and how the concepts of absorption, and heat retention can be used to design a solar oven that will cook a S'more.

Start with the Light and Heat Absorption Experiment- What materials will absorb more light/heat? The Lab is set up using the Scientific method and requires thermometers and other simple materials.

This activity leads into the building a solar oven/cooker project.
Students build a solar oven, then test it by making a tasty treat! (s'mores!)
