These 2 lessons are included in the complete Energy Unit (see link below) but can be taught independently. In the first lesson, students complete a light experiment by using a flashlight with different materials to determine which materials are opaque, translucent, or transparent. In the second lesson, students will be completing different demonstrations that show refraction, reflection, and absorption. They will also complete a magazine hunt completing a collage of opaque, transparent, translucent materials and examples of when light would refract, reflect, and absorb.
These lessons are part of the complete Energy Unit over kinetic/potential energy, electricity, light, sound, and heat. It includes 8 lesson plans, 4 experiments with guided worksheets, magnet and electricity centers, and an end of unit assessment.
