This product is an excellent resource to add to students' knowledge about Light Years. Students will discuss the reason why scientists use light years to measure distance in space, define "Light Years", investigate the speed of light, and research interesting facts about Light Years and distance across space. For the "Fun Facts", I often have students use technology to research 3 interesting facts about distances across the universe and then share with the class or a partner their findings. However, as the teacher, you can determine what information to include in their sketch notes. Some examples of Fun Facts include:
-"Proxima Centauri is the closest star to us besides the Sun, 4.4 Light Years away."
-"The Andromeda Galaxy is the closest galaxy to the Milky Way, 2.5 Million Light Years away."
-"All the light we see in space is actually from the past. We are looking at history when we are looking at the night sky!"
The creative style and fun sketches help to engage the students in the note-taking process. Students who finish early always enjoy coloring their notes and adding their own personal touches. This product is a great addition to any interactive notebook.
Print and scale to 85% to fit into a composition notebook.
