In this package please find the following:

Light and Sound Activities:

-2 diagnostic activities to discover what students already know about light and sound. Students can use the tactile question cubes or whole group question cards to kick start their unit.
-9 different light and sound colourful posters each colour coordinated to either light or sound. Blank posters are also provided for teachers who like to make up anchor charts with their students.
-A set of Light and Sound Science word wall words to match this unit for your word wall
-A set of Light and Sound Science word wall words and definitions to be displayed for students
-Have students discover the difference between safe and unsafe light and sound devices and uses with this great snip and sort activity.
-Students can apply their knowledge of light and sound safety with the provided paragraph questions
-Students will have the opportunity to consider others perspectives when it comes to using light and sound in the community. Use the following written questions for them to show of their stuff!

Sound
-Use the two different whole group activities to facilitate with students and practice the properties of sound. These activities including matching sound sources with their names and sound properties with their definition.
-Supplement your lesson of the ear with these great outer and inner ear posters and fill in the blank diagrams
-Students can show off their understanding of how sound travels from a boom box to their ear with this cute CD player craftivity
-In this package find a summary page of how whales communicate in the oceans for students to use to complete a written comparison on how whales and their own human families use sound to communicate

Light
-Students can show off their understanding of natural and artificial light sources with this adorable flashlight craftivity
-What are the sources of light in your life? Students will draw a cartoon to demonstrate this and then write about how these sources work.
-Can light have other properties? Use this snip and sort activity to discover how light can also be a source of heat.
-To consolidate your students' learning use this four quadrant foldable for them to show off their knowledge of the properties of light
-After the prism and light experiment has been performed have students use the experiment sheets to document their learning. THen have them transfer this understanding to answer the question of "How is a rainbow formed?" in an adorable craftivity
-Students will have the opportunity to complete an inquiry research paragraph on how light is important to photographers. They can use the one page summary provided to facilitate their research. Then they can show off what they have learned in a fun camera craftivity.
