Getting Started

This year, having to post our objectives in our classrooms, I decided I needed an area that I could keep up with without frustration. I thought very long about what would work best for me, and after seeing variations of ways to use the white board, I came up with my own twist. A good teacher friend of mine was using the title, “Lights, Camera, Objectives,” so I talked with her about me making a whole board for it since my room is Hollywood themed. So as you can see on the picture of my board, I set up a corner of my white board, and taped it off with decorative Duct Tape!!! I was just looking for black duct tape when there were all these other design choices. I thought it just made it more fun to look at and use. Then I made the subject posters to separate the subjects and their objectives. I cut out di-cut stars on yellow paper and wrote SWBAT for the Content Objective and SW for the Language Objective and taped them to each subject. I bought a set of colored dry erase markers solely for my objectives board so they are always readily available. I color coordinate the objectives with the subject posters so they’re easier for the students and myself to read and distinguish each among the other subjects. This has made my life so much easier seeing that all I have to do is erase and write. I also write the standards in the lower right corner for each Content Objective. Check out my EDITABLE Common CoreLesson Plans in my store
