Product Description
Common Core ELA is FUN with MUSIC VIDEOS!

Enforce common core with fun, relevant and engaging video clips!

Load the QR code video or direct video link ahead of time or engage students by having them access the video in class using their smartphone devices!

This engaging social-commentary video activity is perfect for any duration class period activity (20 - 60 minutes depending on length of discussion)!

Print the handout and load the video to watch the music video & write a literary analysis response paragraph.

DETAILS:

Write a literary analysis response paragraph about how a music video (10-year old girl's critique of Lil' Wayne and Negative Rap Messages) used a literary technique to build characterization, conflict or theme (3 choices are perfect for differentiation/scaffolding). They will also identify author's purpose and main idea.

Your students (between Grades 5 - 12) will LOVE this exercise, as mine did. They will also learn a lot about cultural influences and reinforce anchor common-core standards for writing, reading literature and reading informational text without even realizing it!

This is a great fun activity to get students invested in reading and writing around the holidays or at the beginning or end of the year!
