Two thumbs up for this fun, educational lesson!
For English and history teachers who want to use visual media to enhance their students’ understanding of Lincoln’s major speeches (ie The Gettysburg Address), the Civil War, or the passing of the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery. The movie review activity helps students focus on the challenging historical material covered in the movie and will help them appreciate the skill of the screenwriters, the actors, and the director in bringing to life some of the most important historical figures in American History.
The Movie Review Activity covers Common Core State Standards for Writing in Grades 9-12 and includes a grading rubric for teachers.
This is one component of our 42-page Gettysburg Address Unit Plan
designed to cover a variety of Common Core ELA Standards.
