"This was used in my 3rd-5th grade Science classes. It was a good intro to our 3rd grade Science unit that was coming up that introduced line plots. It was also good review for the 4th and 5th graders. They were highly engaged during this activity. "

Description
Every year when teaching line plots, our class completes this raisin activity and it is a hit! I give each child a 1/2oz. box of raisins. They predict how many raisins are inside of their box. They then continue on to see if others had the same amount of raisins, gather the classroom data from everyone's raisin box, and create a class line plot using the empty boxes (see photo). The kiddos love this activity and it makes a great hallway display! The worksheet will walk you through plenty of rigorous questions that relate to the data your class collects. I also include a blank line plot for students to create their own if you choose. Enjoy!
