Description
Task cards for Line Plots: Measuring Length, Creating a Line Plot, and Interpreting Data for third grade Common Core Math 3.MD.B.4
Looking for a quick and easy way to keep line plots fresh all year? These monthly math centers are just the thing!
In this center activity, students will measure pictures of objects to the nearest quarter inch and record their data in a table. Then they will use the measurement data to create a line plot of the lengths. Finally, they will interpret the data by answering questions.
The pictures come in two different formats to allow you to differentiate the task. For an easier task, you can print out the measurement pictures on individual task cards. To make the activity more challenging, you can print out the pictures all on one sheet--saving you paper and ink at the same time!
The full set of these monthly line plot stations has two different activities for each month. These monthly math stations gradually increase in difficulty. The August stations have students measure to the nearest inch, September through November measure to the nearest half inch, and the rest of the year measures to the nearest quarter inch.

Very fun way to practice measuring and plotting data, which can be very confusing for many students.
LOVE this! Such fun for the students, and a pleasure to use in my teaching repertoire. Thank you! :)
My students had fun working on this activity.
I am hooked on these! Fantastic practice for measuring and creating a line plot.
My kids definitely loved this activity for Valentine's Day. My only question would be how I could differentiate for my students OGL/BGL since I noticed they struggled more with measuring the items. I am working with them on measuring at this time.
Love it! Thank you!
Task cards are a great way to assess student understanding of a concept. Get kids up and moving with this great resource! Great collaboration activity as well!
Great resource for line plots and measurement! Also love the Valentine’s Day theme.

Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
