Students will experiment with equations and ordered pairs to gain understanding of individual points as solutions to equations. They will create linear equations to satisfy requirements.
In each “mystery,” students try to guess what equation made the points on a graph. Two points will be revealed (on the powerpoint). When the first point is revealed, students create equations that could have produced that point. When the second point is revealed, students try to come up with the mystery equation. 5 mysteries are included. Solutions are revealed after each mystery.
You will receive the power point which has the mystery graphs.

Common Core Standard:
Construct a function to model a linear relationship between two quantities. Determine the rate of change and initial value of the function from a description of a relationship or from two (x, y) values, including reading these from a table or from a graph. Interpret the rate of change and initial value of a linear function in terms of the situation it models, and in terms of its graph or a table of values.
