Focusing on application instead of definitions, this Linear Equations Alternative Vocabulary Quiz allows students to prove mastery of the vocabulary without the mundane task of matching or other commonplace vocabulary quizzes. Students are asked to graph lines of their choosing, noting slope, y-intercept, slope-intercept form, x- and y-axes, undefined and slopes, and zero slopes within the graph. They are also asked to understand the solutions, negative or positive slopes, negative reciprocals, and intercepts of parallel and perpendicular lines. Finally, students must decipher and/or complete separate input-output tables while being able to determine domain, range, and rate of change. Rather than students being asked to simply memorize definitions, this quiz makes them apply their knowledge.
