This Linear Word Problems TASK CARDS Differentiated Activity features 20 unique task cards that can be tiered into 2 sets for differentiation. This activity can be used in small groups or individually. Place task cards in stations or keep students stationary and have them pass the cards around!
Students will set up linear equations in slope-intercept form and use them to identify key characteristics and solve real world problems.
-Given a slope and point in verbal format, students will create an equation
-Given a slope and the y-intercept in verbal format, students will create an equation
-Given two points in verbal format, students will create an equation
-Students will identify the y-intercept, x-intercept, rate of change, independent variable, and dependent variable given a verbal description
-Students will use their created equations to solve real world problems
There are 2 tiers of differentiation. Each set has the same set of 20 problems. One set has hints to help the students get started on the problems.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.MATH.HSA.CED.A.2 Create equations and inequalities in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities and use them to solve problems.
CCSS.MATH.HSF.IF.B.4 For a function that models a relationship between two quantities, interpret key features given a verbal description of the relationship.
Answer key included.
