Description
This is an awesome resource to investigate linear function families. Students will use the four pages of guided notes to complete tables and graphs of functions in order to see various transformations. The resource also includes a quick reference on the types of transformations.
The guided notes focus on the following function families:
- f(x) = x + b,
- f(x) = mx, where m > 0
- f(x) = mx where m < 0
Students are encouraged to use three different colored pencils (red, green and blue) to plot the points on the graph in order to create the line. As a class, we compared the parent function to each additional function that was graphed. We discussed the slope, y-intercept and type of transformation. Students trimmed the outer edge and glued the notes into their notebooks.
The transformations guided notes provides information on translations, vertical stretches, vertical shrinks and reflections.
