This project is meant for a group. There are 10 patio patterns to choose from. You could ask each group to do the same patio pattern or each group to do a different patio pattern.
Each group is asked to continue the pattern by drawing two more patios. Then they must represent their pattern with table, graph, and equation. Then they must identify the slope and y-intercept of each representation. Each stage of the project has a hand out that allows students to work in a group and be responsible for individual information.
After the group project is complete, there is note taking papers for a gallery walk or a compare and contrast or class presentations. Finally, the students are asked to summarize what they have learned including the vocabulary words slope and y-intercept.
