Is It Linear? This is a PowerPoint Presentation Activity introducing the concept of linear or not to Algebra 1 students. Each student gets a set of two flashcards (included) - one with slope-intercept form/y = mx + b and the other with standard form/Ax + By = C.
The presentation begins with a brief introduction of what it means to be linear. A definition and a graph is given. Then the two equations are introduced. The student uses the flashcards to help them decide whether a given equation is linear or not. The examples start off easy and get harder as some will need some adjustment to look like Standard or Slope-Intercept form and some are not linear.
How to decide if a table of values represents a linear equation is included as well. The last slide includes a wrap-up discussion of the lesson. 28 slides. Directions, flash cards and teacher notes are included as well.
