Product Description

This is a 3-page linear functions test containing 18 questions (some with multiple parts) over the following topics: linear or not, slope found in all situations, writing linear function rules from tables and word problems, identifying intercepts, and graphing lines using m & b. The horizontal and vertical lines are included.

Specifically, question #1 gives the student 3 different relations and asks them if each is linear or not. On question #2, the student is given a table with missing values and asked to find the slope and then write a function rule. On question #3, the student is given a graph and asked to identify the slope and intercepts. On question #4, the student is given a word problem such as "Joe’s Gym charges a $25 initiation fee plus $75 monthly dues" and asked to identify the variables, rate of change, starting value, function rule and to fill in a table of values.

On questions 5 - 16, the student is asked to find the slope from equations (includes special cases), tables (with and without missing values), graphs, verbal descriptions such as (Ryan completes 45 sit-ups in 3 minutes) and 2 points. Question #17 gives the student 3 equations in y = mx + b format and asks them to identify m & b and to graph the line. Finally, question # 18 is a linear function application. The student is given a scenario such as "Jose is saving up for a new tablet. He has saved $125 so far and each week he saves an additional $15" and asked to identify the variables, write a function rule, fill in a table of values, graph and then answer some questions.

Since there is so much information involving LINEAR functions & equations and since it is the crux of Algebra 1, I split my unit up into two parts...

Part 1,**Linear FUNCTIONS**, covers

-a relation being linear or not

-slope

-graphing lines

-the two special case lines

-linear applications and

-making connections amongst all the linear concepts such as slope, intercepts, graph, etc.

Part 2,**Linear EQUATIONS**, covers

-linear transformations

-all 3 forms of a line

-writing equations of lines in every situation including parallel & perpendicular lines and

-identifying the intercepts.

This test does not cover writing equations of lines, linear transformations, point-slope form or standard form of a line. These concepts are covered in my second unit: Linear Equations (Complete Unit Bundle)
