This is a double-sided notes page on recognizing linear and quadratic functions from equations and tables of values.
The notes begin by having the student write down what a function is and what makes it linear. Next, they write down the 3 equations of a line. Finally, they are asked to describe what makes a function quadratic. 12 examples follow where the student is given an equation and asked to determine if the function is linear, quadratic or neither.
On the back, the student is given two tables of values and determine, with instruction, whether each one describes a linear or quadratic function. An area to record the results is included. 3 more tables follow for guided practice. Finally, a chart is provided where the student can summarize the characteristics of each type of function. Key included.
