Included in this purchase are 4 linear regression problems for you students to practice. Each problem starts with a given table of values. Then the students are asked to determine the linear regression equation, interpret the meaning of slope, interpret the meaning of the y-intercept, and answer questions based on their regression equation.
The first table is information from one of my classes last year; it shows the total number of days each student was absent and their corresponding final grade. Below are the questions they are asked based on the table:
A) Determine the linear regression equation for the information given.
B) What is the meaning of slope in this situation?
C) What is the meaning of the y-intercept in this situation?
D) A students is absent 10 school days this year. What is the predicted final grade in Algebra 1 according to your equation in part (A)?
E) A student had a final grade of 74%. About how many days of school do you believe this students missed according to your equation?
