Imagine visiting a well know beach during the summer months with you friends. You and your friends are trying to decide what to do one afternoon. Your options are between Go-Karting, Jet-Skiing, and Horseback Riding. You must determine the best price to make sure you get the most fun out of your money.
During this activity students will compare the prices for Go-Karting, Jet-Skiing, and Horseback Riding, all of which have different insurance fees and hourly rates. Students will create equations, a table, and a graph to compare the prices of these vacation attractions. Once the mathematical models are created students will use their models to analyze and interpret the slopes, y-intercepts, and make a final decision of which vacation attraction to do with their friends.
