The goal of this activity is to help students understand that a system requires considering two or more criteria (equations) at the same time.
This exploration into systems of linear equations will give your students some context with which to apply to new and different problems involving solving systems. This activity is scaffolded to guide students to a solution, write and graph equations and make observations about the solution to a system from a graph.
Packet includes an exploration activity worksheet, an exit ticket, application worksheet and teacher tips.
This particular activity includes a problem that involves figuring out the number of animals in a barn given two different criteria that must be met. Students will be completing a table of values, graphing, reading graphs, writing equations and answering critical thinking questions.
