Symmetry is such a FUN topic to teach in math! The nice thing about using this book, What is Symmetry in Nature? by Bobbie Kalman is that you can teach lines of symmetry as well as rotational symmetry by showing the students very familiar objects found in nature.
The activity I have to accompany this book is finding the lines of symmetry in the letters of the alphabet. The extension activity requires the students to create a word with a total of exactly 12 lines of symmetry.
This activity is also available in a bundle pack at a discounted price. A great cross-curricular activity!
