PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Linking Protein Synthesis DNA-RNA Base Pairing with Monohybrid Cross Genetics
Transcribe the DNA strand into a messenger RNA (mRNA) then translate the mRNA into a polypeptide. Then, using the Genetic Decoder, find the amino acid that corresponds to each of the codons.

Given the DNA strands of both normal and abnormal RBC, construct the corresponding mRNA strands and the amino acid sequence.
NORMAL RED BLOOD CELL (RBC)
ABNORMAL RED BLOOD CELL (RBC)

1. What is the difference between the normal and abnormal DNA strands?

2. What is the difference between the normal and abnormal mRNA strands?

3. What is the difference between the normal and abnormal polypeptides?

4. If Normal RBC is dominant over the abnormal, what is the genotype of a person who is
a. Homozygous dominant for normal RBC?
b. Heterozygous for normal RBC?
c. Homozygous recessive for abnormal RBC
5. If a man heterozygous for normal RBC marries a woman with abnormal RBC, what is the genotypic and phenotypic probabilities of their offspring?

6. If a man homozygous for normal RBC marries a woman who is heterozygous normal, what is the genotypic and phenotypic probabilities of their offspring?
