Linking verbs can be hard to teach because most elementary students think of verbs as action words. When students hear verbs such as be, is, are and has, (These verbs don't show any action.), it's important to try and use fun activities to explain what a linking verb is and what it does.
My students struggled with linking verbs last year, but they eventually mastered the objective. I wanted to come up with an idea that would give my students an interactive visual way of understanding linking verbs.
This activity can be modified to your students specific grade level.
