This PowerPoint file is a wonderful presentation about the basic features of lipids. Lipids are one of four types of organic molecule. This presentation discusses the chemical structure, significance, and various examples of lipids. The presentation also discusses the difference between saturated fats and unsaturated fats. At the end is a quick set of review questions for your students to discuss. This PowerPoint contains a very nice collection of images and animations to assist with understanding. All pictures used are in the “public domain” so there is no worry of copyright violation.
On average this presentation takes around 20-30 minutes to complete, depending on the amount of questions the students may ask.
I have also included a “fill-in-the-blank” style worksheet to accompany these notes for you to distribute to your students if you wish.
Free addition! For no extra charge, I am including an internet based worksheet about lipids that I use for review. This worksheet will ask the students to visit a website that reviews the characteristics of lipids. The website is a quick read and most students will finish the internet worksheet in under 15 minutes.
