Product Description
This product is the record sheet that can be used during an inquiry activity in which students discover, through inquiry, how many cups are in a pint, how many pints are in a quart and how many quarts are in a gallon. Other materials are needed for this activity including large bowls, bags of dry, uncooked rice, cups so students can scoop rice from bowls, and plastic recycled containers (without labels). After recycling plastic containers that hold a gallon, quart, pint and cup, and once you have collected the other materials you're set to go!
Students will definitely have fun with this activity! Know that it will get messy, even with the most well-behaved students! Please bring a broom and pan and brush, so that helpful students can help to clean up afterward. But believe me, it is so worth it!
Once I showed students all of the materials they could use, I handed each student a copy of this document, asked them to fold it in half, and asked them to brainstorm with their team, their plan of how they could reach a solution for each question. Once they had agreed and decided on a plan for solving each question, they were set free within the room, to figure it out! On the other side of the page is where students recorded their data/solution to each question!
